Australia is one of the best places in the world to live while you learn. The standard of living is amongst the highest in the world, yet costs remain competitive. On your breaks from study, you will have a wide choice of activities to enrich your experience - from cultural festivals, concerts and museums, to major sporting events.Australia is the only nation to govern an entire continent and its outlying islands. The mainland is the largest island and the smallest, flattest continent on Earth. The Australian federation consists of six States and two Territories. Most inland borders follow lines of longitude and latitude. The largest State, Western Australia, is about the same size as Western Europe.
Air travel and the great variety of Australia’s attractions are combining to bring more international tourists to Australia every year. Overseas tourists are drawn by Australia’s sunshine, sandy beaches, the vast outback, rainforests, the Great Barrier Reef, unique flora and fauna, the Gold Coast of Queensland, and the attractions of the cities, Australia’s friendly, multicultural society, and the safe and welcoming environment. Tourism is one of Australia’s largest and fastest-growing industries. In 2002, 4.8 million international tourists visited Australia, a quarter of them from Japan and another quarter from other countries of East Asia.

University of Aberyswyth challange
We are looking for a selection of 2010 Freshers to produce a number of video blogs (vBlogs) to showcase their thoughts, feelings and experiences in the lead up to the Freshers’ Week, arriving in Aberystwyth and the exciting times which follow. These will be published on the Aberystwyth University website, and will be available for anyone to watch.
vBlogs were trialed last year, gaining a successful online following with over 6000 video views. This could soon be you! You’ll be presented with your very own video camera to help you in this task, and if you have editing skills, we’ll also give you video editing software, although the ability to edit your own vBlogs isn’t essential.
Want to be part of these exciting new videos? All we want you to do is create a 30 second vBlog about ANYTHING you want. This can be recorded on a webcam or a video camera. Prior experience of vBlogging isn’t essential, and all applications will be considered… here’s what we’re looking for:
• The ability to entertain
• To be free to start blogging up to a week before you arrive
• A willingness to film experiences upon arrival
• Someone who can visually communicate their feelings about studying at university
• Dedication and motivation
If your vBlog impresses us, we’ll want you to start blogging prior to your arrival in Aberystwyth, and we’ll ship your new video camera out to you!
If you think you’ve got what it takes to make insightful, entertaining vBlogs, simply email your 30-second vBlog to rzm@aber.ac.uk by 6th September. Don’t forget to include your name, email address, what course you will be studying and if you have any video editing skills.
Winners will be notified by email and announced on Facebook on Friday 10th September.

Robert Gordon University- The Times Good University Guide 2011
I'm delighted to inform you that Robert Gordon University(http://www.rgu.ac.uk/) has performed extremely well in The Times Good University Guide 2011, published today. We have come 46th overall, the first time we have appeared in the top 50 of this league table. What is particularly pleasing is that we are the only modern university to appear in the top 50.
And this is the third year in a row that we have been the top modern University in the UK in The Times Good University Guide. A key factor in our success is our record in graduate-level employment which was again excellent.
