Introduction

Many teenager in Dubai are not sure about what they wants to be, are you one of them? Do you follow your friends choices of universities or professions? What if we say that we can help you understand what you should do and what you will be best at?

Career Café is an opportunity for students to meet professionals from various sectors and learn about their career journeys. We invite students of 13-18 years of age to participate in Career Café. Parents are also welcome!

You will get to meet 3 universities at each of the Career Café meetings, which will allow you to have individual consultations with the admissions officers right in the Café, and to learn more about the educational programs.

Brendan Jack

Brendan is an Engineer with over 30 years of professional experience. He has worked across a broad range of industries, from management to Board level:

In Australia, his experience included:

  • Senior member of the Australian Prime Minister’s Sustainable Transport Working Group
  • Executive Board Member of Australia’s National Environmental Law Association
  • Member of Australia’s National Safety Council
  • Senior Consultant to EnergyAustralia (Australia’s largest energy utility)
  • National Risk Adviser for the National Rail Corporation
  • Senior environmental adviser for the Sydney 2000 Olympics (the first “green” Olympic Games and the first Games to win the United Nations Environment Program Award)

In Dubai, his experience includes:

  • Working together with the United Nations University on major marine projects;
  • Organising and managing one of the largest coral relocation projects in the world; and
  • He is currently Head of Health, Safety, Sustainability & Environment for the Community & Retail Divisions of a major Dubai property company.

Brendan has featured on Discovery Channel, BBC, Emirates Airlines flight channel, Dubai Eye, and as a presenter at international conferences.

He holds an Honours-level, Bachelor’s Degree, in Mechanical Engineering, and is a Post Graduate in Environmental Management.

  • Bachelor of dental surgery from the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand
  • First and Second professional exam in basic medical science (Honors Degree) from Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland
